Heerkanis Brand Identity

Heerkanis is a food brand built around a simple idea: traditional Indian food wisdom can belong just as naturally in today’s kitchens.

The project includes the brand identity, visual language, packaging system and supporting brand assets, created to give Heerkanis a recognisable presence across traditional staples, everyday foods and festive offerings.

A brand rooted in India, designed for the way we eat today.

Logo Concept

The Heerkanis logo was designed as a visual expression of food as a living tradition—passed down, reinterpreted and enjoyed across generations.

The mirror-like composition brings two illustrated personas face to face. They can be read in multiple ways: as different generations sharing a kitchen, as the past meeting the future, or as the many food cultures, regional influences and eating habits that coexist within India. The mirrored forms suggest continuity, while their differences leave room for reinterpretation—much like traditional recipes adapting to contemporary lives.

The characters also deliberately carry a playful, almost playing-card-like persona. This introduces humour and lightness into a category that can often feel overly serious. The idea is that food is not only about nourishment and tradition—it is also about pleasure, togetherness, experimentation and enjoying life.

The result is a mark that can feel cultural without being nostalgic, contemporary without being disconnected, and playful without losing its sense of heritage.

Tradition on one side. Tomorrow on the other. And food, happily, right in the middle.

Heerkanis Packaging

Packaging Design Concept

The Heerkanis packaging was designed to make traditional food feel approachable, contemporary and full of personality—without stripping away its cultural character.

The central idea was to treat the pack almost like a little recipe card brought to life. Instead of relying on a conventional food-pack hierarchy, the information is broken into a series of playful, tactile-looking panels that invite the consumer to explore: What’s inside? How do I cook it? What makes it special?

The large food photograph immediately establishes appetite and familiarity, while the rich green, mustard and earthy beige palette creates a visual connection to Indian kitchens, ingredients and traditional textiles. The contrasting blocks give the pack an energetic, contemporary rhythm that makes it feel relevant to younger consumers.

Designed around the way people actually choose food

Each panel has a specific role:

  • Product name & visual: Immediate recognition and appetite appeal.

  • “Mom’s love in 15 mins”: Brings warmth and emotional familiarity into a modern convenience proposition.

  • Authentic recipe / beginner friendly: Reassures first-time users that traditional food doesn't have to be intimidating.

  • Ingredients & food cues: Lets the actual ingredients become part of the visual language.

  • No added preservatives or colours: Makes the brand's philosophy visible without turning the pack into a health-claim-heavy design.

  • Cooking guidance: Treats the packaging as useful, not merely decorative.

  • QR interaction: Extends the experience from the physical pack to the Heerkanis digital world.

The woven textile-inspired strip at the bottom acts almost like a cultural border—subtle enough to remain contemporary, but recognisably rooted in Indian visual heritage.

It also carries the Heerkanis line, “Connecting culture to the future,” giving the packaging a consistent brand signature.
